American National Bank — Carbondale, CO

Location: Carbondale, CO

Project Description:

Energy efficiency was a primary goal for the developer of this bank. Rader Engineering met this goal by providing full Mechanical and Electrical engineering services that incorporated energy efficient systems into the MEP design. Highlights include a 10 KW solar PV system, an instantaneous gas hot water heater, Roof Top Units that used environmentally sound refrigerant, economizer cooling for free cooling utilizing outdoor air, VAV variable air volume zoning systems and an ERV energy recovery ventila tor for bath exhaust and fresh air to the offices.

Cascade Residences — Vail, CO

Location: Vail, CO

Project Description:

This condominium / hotel project consists of 11 condo units, commercial space, restaurant, lobby, corridors and an underground parking garage. Each unit will have multiple zones of in floor radiant heating and forced air cooling, as well as humidification, fresh air, snowmelt, kitchen exhaust and bath exhaust. The building will have a central high efficiency boiler plant with two boilers, a water cooled chiller and a cooling tower to take advantage of free cooling when outdoor air temperatures permit. Boiler return water is utilized for domestic hot water pre-heating in order to further increase the efficiency of the boiler plant. Rader Engineering was responsible for the full MEP Engineering Design.

Dancing Bear Lodge — Aspen, CO

Location: Aspen, CO

Project Description:

This ultra high-end condo project in downtown Aspen required full Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing Engineering services. The building is comprised of 9 residential units, a commercial kitchen with restaurant and bar, private parking garage, game room, gym, board room, custom chilled wine cabinets, theater, locker room and a rooftop lounge with a bar and multiple spas. The MEP systems for the building consist of a central air handling unit with VAV boxes for common spaces, fan coil units in the residences, a central high efficiency condensing boiler plant, a central air-cooled chiller plant and approximately 10,000 SF of exterior snowmelt.  Other systems include humidification for improved comfort, parking garage ventilation, exhaust systems, heat rejection systems, elevator hoist way venting, sand/oil separator, grease interceptor and multiple lift stations. The mechanical control system consists of a custom whole building integrated DDC system.

Pines Lodge — Beaver Creek, CO

Location: Beaver Creek, CO

Project Description:

This hotel / condominium building consists of 60 hotel rooms, 12 condominiums, a restaurant, kitchen, bar, exercise room, conference room, offices and lobby area. The goal of this project was to retrofit the entire building with air conditioning. Rader Engineering was able to meet this goal by using a Mitsubishi CityMulti Variable Refrigerant Volume system. The system is also used as the first stage of heat, causing the older, less efficient heating system to run only during very cold outdoor temperatures. The installation of the mechanical system for everything except for the condominiums was completed in December of 2008 and consisted of 79 indoor fan coils and 6 outdoor heat pumps. Installation for the condominium units has not been started but is planned for the future.
